We seek candidates keen to work in an interdisciplinary environment and open to collaborating with researchers from other disciplines, particularly robotics, soft matter physics, image processing, and information extraction. The position is linked to the Interdisciplinary Research Group in Sociotechnical Cybersecurity (IRiSC-https://irisc-lab.uni.lu/) within the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability, and Trust (SnT) at the University of Luxembourg.

The position is initially funded for one year (with a probation period of six months) and may be extended to up to five years following positive evaluation and commitment.

The research is linked to the project INVISIMARK - Unclonable Invisible Optical Markers For Defence Applications (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/374806334_InvisiMark) will be executed in close collaboration with two other research groups, one in robotics (prof. Holger Voos) and the other in soft matter physics (Prof. Jan Lagerwall). The three groups have established an exciting interdisciplinary environment.

Your role

Depending on the ambition and abilities, in addition to being involved in the group's research on data protection and socio-technical security design and analysis, the candidate can have the opportunity to develop their research project and to engage in interdisciplinary scientific work with the community of researchers of the University.

Successful candidates are expected to participate in the following activities:

  • Conduct highly innovative research in secure authentication protocol design
  • Publish research results and present them at international conferences
  • Contribute to reports activities in support of project management
  • Guide and co-supervise PhD or M.Sc. students
  • Contribute to teaching in Cybersecurity courses

Your profile

The ideal candidate will have experience in Object Authentication, Physical Unclonable Functions, Biometric Authentication, and Security Protocols.

Academic:

  • A PhD in Computer and Information Security in [FIELD(S)]
  • Experience in coding and image processing is considered an advantage

Communication Skills:

  • Proficiency in written and oral English (French is considered an advantage)
  • Good academic writing
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Unquestionable research ethics conduct

Organizational and Personal:

  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to independently organize work
  • Inquisitive mind and critical thinking
  • Collaborative attitude, scientific curiosity, and open-mindedness
