The University of Luxembourg invites applications for the following vacancy in its Luxembourg Centre for Educational Testing (LUCET) at the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE): Research and Development Specialist in Data Science.
Your Role...
The research and development specialist will contribute to the conceptual setup, implementation, administration, maintenance and supervision of the LUCET longitudinal database in the context of LUCET's core mission (i.e., "Épreuves Standardisées", the Luxembourg school monitoring programme).
Activities
The research and development specialist will work within LUCET's large-scale statistics laboratory (LSS_Lab) and is expected to collaborate with LUCET members on the following tasks:
- Data cleaning and consistency checks of data collected in the ÉpStan
- Design and implementation of a relational database storing ÉpStan data and associated documentation
- Design, implementation and testing of a web-based front-end to the database
- Maintenance and development of the database and front-end after completion of an initial version
- Miscellaneous data science tasks related to ÉpStan
- Any other tasks within the framework of the position
What we expect from you…
- Master's degree in data science or statistics
- Knowledge of relational database design and operation
- Proven expertise in large-scale data handling, ideally in the context of (computer-based) psycho-educational (large-scale) assessment
- Excellent knowledge in the following programming languages: R, Python, SQL, and JavaScript
- Knowledge of LaTeX is a plus
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Very good oral and written competences in English and French; German and/or Luxembourgish are a plus
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
