We are looking for an HSE Specialist on a Fixed-Term contract to replace a person on sick leave.
Job Purpose
The HSE Specialist supports the HSE Manager in driving & continuously improving the McBride HSE Management System at the Site. The role proactively supports the site team to operate in compliance with the HSE Management System across functional areas ensuring standards & processes are fully understood & trained at all levels of the organisation. They assist in developing the sites health, safety and environmental improvement plans in compliance with company HSE Policies, Standards, Objectives & local legislative requirements.
The Specialist can assist, advise and support on safety systems & standards both internally and externally with suppliers & customers. They coach employees on the HSE Management Systems and support the site in building the organisational capability to achieve strategic goals of the business with respect to Health, Safety & Environment.
Your responsibilities will be
- Facilitation & Supporting of Site HSE Management System
- Identify specific projects or improvement opportunities that support a ZERO Harm & Loss mentality. Run Improvement Projects
- Champion the key elements of People & Process Safety in the daily performance management of the plant
- Training – educating and coaching HSE Processes & Procedures at all levels of the site
- Training – facilitating & assisting leadership in monitoring & improving Organisational Capability through optimisation of standard training & validation processes.
- Problem Solving – supporting colleagues at all levels to ensure that they are competent in appropriate problem-solving tools to ensure that we solve the problem to root cause to avoid repetition.
- Driver of Standardisation of Improvements & Process Confirmation Standards.
- Support in establishing HSE Strategy for the Site, deploying the Group Vision & Framework. Input to the Site HSE Improvement Program – Zero Loss Journey Map
- Standardisation – supports HSE Manager in ensuring all standardised processes are deployed across the site and where applicable are in line with divisional standards and Site Zero Loss Journey Map
- Provide consultative support to line management in the operation of the site health, safety and environmental management system and associated safe systems of work.
- Support pro-active working relationships with local health & safety and environment regulatory bodies, company Insurers and other authority bodies.
- Support investigations for lost time injuries & high potential incidents & coach and support managers to establish root cause for all investigations.
- Support effective communication processes and alignment with HSE Committees and Works Councils to ensure effective engagement and worker participation.
- Identify and advise on key risk areas in the sites operations using leading indicators and statistical analysis
- Raise awareness across the site on health, safety, and environment issues i.e. toolbox talks, bulletins, briefings, updates, communications, training etc.
- Take part in and advise on HSE matters in change management processes.
- Reportable Safety Incidents – LTI, RW, MT, FA, HIPO.
- Compliance with industry, group and local HSE standards – Audit compliance
- RCA (Root causes analysis) and action closure rates.
- Delivery of site improvement plans.
- Safety Culture – commitment on leading indicators – safety walks, hazards, near miss
Skills and education we are looking for
- Relevant Local HSE Qualification
- NEBOSH Level 6 International Diploma for Occupational Health & Safety / or working towards (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety & Health
- Externally recognised environmental qualification i.e. IEMA Level 5 Certificate in Environmental Management (Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment)
- Project management principles & knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
- Good knowledge of local language and English
- MS office
- Communication tools.
